We drove in to Warsaw around 6:00 p.m. Saturday. Had planned to stay in Knoxville four days but the weather was rainy, overcast and cool so we decided we could do rain just as easy in Warsaw as Knoxville, TN. The thing about staying in privately owned campgrounds, unless you stayed before, is you never know what you are getting yourself in to until you have arrived. The Knoxville campground was not pet friendly; did not offer any walking areas for the dogs. Consequently, the rain coupled with unpaved roads equals mud equals a constant battle to keep the dogs clean.
Jack drove straight through Saturday putting in almost 8 hours driving time. Tanner and I camped out in the RV most of the way home while poor Jack plugged away the miles. But we made it.......
And my washer and dryer hasn't stopped since..I'm in laundry heaven. It is good to be home even though for the first day or so I felt a little overwhelmed by the size of the house compared to the RV. Thanks to Jason I didn't need to do a thing to the house but there are still "to do" things on my spring cleaning list that I'd like to accomplish before Spring. Jack has a list of things he too wants to get done before we hit the road again.
For now I am going to say farewell. Will start posting again when we once again Go Down the Road A Piece in our RV. Thanks so much for sharing this time with us.

A journal written about life, retirement and our journey throughout the United States in a 5th wheel, along with our two Shih Tzus, Tanner and Syndey. Written not for notoriety but for our sons, family and friends, so they know where we are at any given time. And particularly for ourselves. Finally, we get to slow down and smell the roses and we don't want to forget any of it. You are welcome to join us as we go 'Down the Road a Piece'.

April 11, 2011 Pine Ridge Campground Roebuck, SC
Although we drove a little over our 4 hour self imposed time limit, we still did not make it out of South Carolina today. We are parked at a nice little, private campground near Spartanburg, SC. Don't have a lot planned this week as we are staying only through Wednesday departing Thursday and heading towards Tennessee. While the itinerary is there is no itinerary we do hope to get a good bike ride in and hit a tour of the BMW Manufacturing plant here in Spartanburg. Other than that no big plans. I think we are both kind of in wind down mode now anticipating all of the things that are on our "to-do" list back in Warsaw. Warsaw in itself is going to be a totally different lifestyle for us. We've adapted quite nicely to the coziness of the RV; I've especially adapted very quickly to the house cleaning aspect of RV living. Not sure I'll enjoy cleaning a house again. WTH??? That's a stupid statement. Of course I won't enjoy cleaning a house again; I never liked it before RVing. After we complete some things around the house and get the urge to take off again we are thinking of taking a trip north through Michigan into Canada around the great lakes then back down through the New England area. Did you know there is a campground in New Jersey called Liberty Harbor where you can see the New York city skyline? Might have to stop there on the way back since we both love New York City.
We had a wonderful time at Myrtle Beach and was sad to see it come to an end. We loved, loved, loved the campground and having a camp site literally steps from the beach spoiled us. Yesterday, for the first time we hit the ocean. The water, while a little chilly, felt amazing even though the waves knocked the crap out of me numerous times. I was laughing so hard at the absurdity of me not being able to stand up without getting smacked back down (the beach was packed and the waves were ginormous) I'm still spitting salt water. Jack literally had to pull me out of the water a couple of times. After the ocean swim we grabbed our bikes and headed up to the campground's huge outside pool. We're both nursing a sunburn today. But what a blast!!
Saturday we decided we'd ride our bikes throughout the park so we could measure the miles of internal roads in the campground. I quit riding after 16 miles but Jack continued and even though he says he's sure he missed a few of the smaller roads he put in close to 23 miles. So when I said you could probably walk the park in 2 to 3 hours, well, geez, I guess I was a little off in my calculations. I would so recommend Ocean Lakes campground to anyone looking for an ocean vacation.
Sorry, no pics today.

April 7, 2011 Myrtle Beach, SC Ocean Lakes Family Campground
Haven't written in a few so this is a belated birthday wish to my older brother...HAPPY BELATED 59TH BIRTHDAY, BILL. Hope it was awesome!!
This campground is like a small city. It would probably take a good two to three hours to walk all of the streets. This is their slower season but the place is a constant buzz of activity. There are a ga-zillion golf carts cruising the streets constantly. The rules say (and remember what I've said about rules) that you have to be 16 to drive the carts but I swear some of these kids don't look a day over 12. Of course that could be because the older a person gets the younger everyone else appears. One day I'll wake up and everyone will be in diapers. Oh wait a minute....that's my reoccurring nursing home nightmare. Anyhow, I can't imagine how crazy Ocean Lakes get in the summer months.
Today I introduced myself to our neighbor, whose motor home sits directly across the street. He ( T. Drake) and his wife are from Chillicothe, Ohio. How bizarre is that? What's even more bizarre is that he worked at Kenworth with my childhood best friend, Jan, for many years. Such a small world.
We walked in the ocean this morning, rode our bikes, did laundry and made a trip to Wal Mart. Jack made dinner, I cleaned up and now we are sitting here watching American Idol. I swore I wouldn't watch that stupid show this year because I felt the show would suffer after Simon left. CRAP!! Steven Tyler has made it fun to watch. So we are hooked. Casey is my favorite but I think James will win. I love his voice; I just don't like watching him perform. Having said that I will post the pictures I've taken this week. Some of them may be repetitive of Jack's.

Tuesday April 5, 2011 Myrtle Beach
We're not sure how this got published without a description or any narrative attached but it did. These first two pictures are views from the front of our RV site which is steps from the ocean. This RV resort is huge. There are about 850 RV sites and many other houses on the property. Within the complex there are stores, laundry services, pools etc. There is a private beach on the Atlantic that is for those staying on the premises. We are staying here a week and will be leaving next Monday, heading north. We should be pulling in to Warsaw sometime around the middle of April.

Sunday April 3, 2011 Summerville Flower Festival but no flowers
Since 1972 the city of Summerville, SC has held a Flower Festival to benefit the Summerville YMCA. I am not sure what it was like over 30 years ago but today we were blown away by the number of people attending the festival. We actually thought we would make the 30 mile drive from where we were staying and would see flowers and stuff like that. Wrong, we saw no flowers but all kinds of food booths and tents selling everything you can imagine (love those boiled peanuts). We had a good time and are both glad we went.
