Honey Boo Boo

You know your retired and have too much time on your hands when your willing to spend much of the day driving around the state of Georgia to see where the show Honey Boo Boo is filmed.   We started watching the show last year after more than one person we know started using some of June's phrases like beautimus and redneckognize.  We didn't know what they were talking about so we started to watch the show to find out.  In fact, we nick named our son Jason's lady friend Chelsea Chelsonator the Beautimus after watching one episode of the show.  You watch the show for the shock value more than anything else because you never know what they will say or do next. Today the people we spoke to who are on the show were genuinely very nice nice and Alana who the show is named after was especially nice and very well mannered.   We believed the Hispanic gentleman in the pictures may have been there body guard.  While it was cloudy most of the day here we didn't run into rain until we started our trip home.  We stopped in Macon at a BBQ restaurant and I told Janet to slap me the next time I suggest we stop for BBQ.  I think it would have been good if I would have stuck to the slab of ribs I wanted but the waitress talked us both into the most popular item on the menu which was a barbecue sandwich.  It was the driest sandwich but it did have a lot of meat on it.  Putting more sauce on it didn't make it much better though.

Below are the pictures we took of today's trip.

Sydney which we now call "bait" Alana saw Sydney looking out of the window and wanted to see her.

This is what the skies looked like most of the day

This is one third of the town of McIntyre, Georgia.  I think there may have been two other gas stations neither of which was near as big as this one. They didn't sell diesel fuel either.

This is where the show Honey Boo Boo is filmed.  Leaving the Christmas lights up saves decorating time next holiday season.

This is Sugar Bear

On the porch is June and Alana aka Honey Boo Boo.

She told us she needed to wash her hair today.

I am not sure Sydney likes what is happening to her.

The famous gas station in front of their house where they go for snacks.

The show must be good for them because I think they have new vehicles.

A couple pictures of Macon, Georgia as we drove through downtown.

Moultrie Georgia

Today we went to Moultrie, Georgia to pick up a couple of things we needed.  Yesterday while cleaning the front windshield on the motorhome I pulled one of the rubber/plastic hoses off of the windshield washer sprayer.  The end was hard and stiff so I decided to replace the hoses today.  It's funny when we first got to Florida with our 5th wheel I couldn't understand why those people with motorhomes had their windshield wipers covered with those bright colored noodle things people take to the swimming pool.  After being in Florida for a few weeks I understood why they covered things.  We have the tire covers and the noodle things for the wipers but I don't think North Trail RV was as diligent about protecting things from the sun.  Adel is fairly small and since we needed a couple of other things besides the wiper hose we drove about 15 miles to Moultrie, Georgia.  The one thing Moultrie is known for is it's courthouse.

The weather was great today with the highs in the upper 70's but the forecast is calling for rain tomorrow so it might be a Honey Boo Boo here we come day.  Below are a few pictures of our trip today.

This sign is posted on the road into Reed Bingham State Park.  That pretty much covers it but I would like them to be just a little more specific.  On the other hand it wouldn't matter we would be busted anyway.

I think this is much more effective than the normal "no littering" sign.

This is just outside the entrance to the park but we had catfish two nights ago so were good for a while as far as catfish goes.

Did you watch American Idol a couple of years or so ago when the man sang the song "Pants on the Ground".  I think this is what he was singing about.

This is the court house in Moultrie

They have pecan groves here

This and the next picture is of very large fields of cabbage.

Our first day heading North

After spending most of yesterday just relaxing at the pool and hot tub today we left the Okeechobee KOA and started our trip North.  We felt like we better take advantage of the pool and hot tub on our last day since we aren't sure when we will have access to them again.  Today we drove 366 miles and stopped at Reed Bingham State Park in Adel, Georgia.  The traffic was heavy but apparently not as bad as it was yesterday.  Janet went in to pay for fuel and spoke to a truck driver from North Manchester, Indiana who said he couldn't even get into a place to eat yesterday.  He said today the traffic was heavy but not near as bad as it was yesterday.

This morning we drove the motor home out to the KOA exit where Huli pulled the truck up behind it where we attached the tow bar to the truck.  Everything worked great and we had no problems.  It was pretty windy but the motorhome handled well.  We got 7.0 miles per gallon which isn't too bad considering the wind and the fact that we are pulling an 8,000 lb. truck.  You read on different web sites where people claim the mileage improves after you get several thousand miles on the motorhome but I heard the same thing with my truck and I never noticed an improvement with it and it has 72,000 miles on it.    I expected 6 miles per gallon with the motorhome towing the truck so I am pleasantly surprised.  I also drove at 67 miles per hour much of the way so I know I could have improved the mileage if I would have slowed down to 60-62 but I'm not willing to do that on a long trip like we had today.  We arrived at the park at about 3:30 in the afternoon.

While at Reed Bingham we plan to take several day trips.  One trip Huli wants to take is to see where the Honey Boo Boo show is filmed.  I am not looking forward to that trip but she goes places with me she is not too interested in so I will make the best of it.  There are also some nice towns around here we want to visit.  We also plan to do some hiking and biking around the park while we are here.  As of now we are planning to stay here until April 2nd but I can tell we will more than likely extend our stay due to how nice our camp site is and how nice the park is.  Below are a few pictures taken today.

The dogs got a good view of the road.  Sydney stayed in the window for the entire trip.  Tanner was all over the place today and he was a real pain in the butt.  He finally settled down when we were almost to our destination.

This is the rear camera and what you see of the truck while going down the highway.  When you turn on the turn signal the picture changes from the rear view to the a side view so you can see what is beside you.  I use the rear shot to view the truck but prefer the mirrors to the side views.

The white labels are my doing.  I can't read the small print on the switches and am not familiar with the location of them so I temporarily added these labels.  At least I think it is temporary.

Notice I am using a Tom Tom gps that came with the motor home and a Garmin gps that we had in the truck.  I don't trust either one of them.  Our Garmin would do stupid things with routing but a change I recently made was suppose to correct that for good.  Today they planned the exact same route and both worked great.  I also did a Google map last night and compared that route to the gps.  With just the truck I wouldn't do that but pulling the 5th wheel I would especially after the Garmin kept getting us in some unusual situations.   So far the Tom Tom has been great but a little different than what I am used to.

PS. the change I made to the Garmin that is suppose to eliminate the erratic routes is to tell it I get 45 miles per gallon highway and 15 miles per gallon city.  Many who have done this swear it works. We will see.

This site is a lot larger than our Florida site.  We also get to have a camp fire which we couldn't do at the KOA unless you had a metal fire place.

The tree we are parked under is beautiful.  We just hope it doesn't lose any limbs over the next few days.

There are all kinds of trees and flowers in bloom here.

This lake is about 100 yards from our camp site.
Another nice tree in it's own sort of way.

This is the life.  Having a camp fire while watching TV.

We have more fire wood so we will be having more camp fires.
