Manatees and Oysters at Fort Pierce, Florida

Hello All,

Last night we went to a golf banquet where we had a nice dinner after which they passed out awards for hole in ones and the winners of the championship tournament.  Today we decided to do a road trip so we went to Fort Pierce which is on the Atlantic coast and is about 40 miles from Okeechobee.  We had a great time today and got to see a very neat sight that many never get to see.  We started out by walking around the park by the ocean which was close to downtown Fort Pierce. From there we went to the marina where we saw about 20 manatees in the marina channel.  We were told there were so many in the marina area due to the weather and water temperature being cold.  It was an awesome, very peaceful sight.  After the marina and manatees we did some more walking then drove to another spot to have lunch.  We went into the first bar and sat down but the person working there didn't acknowledge we were there so we got up and went to the bar next door.  This was a good decision because the bar, the service, and the food and drink was great.  In the pictures below you can probably figure out what I had for lunch.

The water in the ocean here is so blue it's unreal.  We've seen this before in the Bahamas but the water here seemed just as blue as that was.

He is painting this buoy using the rip it and let it run method.

I believe he is checking on the size of the engine before he takes it out for a spin.  I would love to have the little HINESITE that the pelican is checking out let alone the big one.

It was windy today which must have been perfect for para surfboarding or whatever they call it.

This bar was busier than the pictures indicate but the people were sitting in booths to the left of the camera shot.

What I had for lunch.  Huli had the chicken tenders.

I went to the golf banquet last night so I got really dressed up.  I wore my watch.  I decided to stay dressed up today for some reason.  Tomorrow it's back to my regular attire.

I believe these pelicans are hoping the fish cleaners leave a little something for them.

Huli saw something in this used to be gas station.  I don't see it.

Yesterday they closed I95 for six hours due to fires which created smoke so thick you couldn't see to drive.  Today it was out but we still saw one fire truck cleaning things up.

This what you see closer to Okeechobee.  Big fields full of cows.
