Asheville, NC

Today we didn't do a whole lot.  At about noon we drove into Asheville to check things out and to stop at the store to pick up a couple of things.  Asheville is a very artsy community and you can see it just about anywhere you drive around the downtown area.  Asheville apparently also has a lot of micro beer breweries.  When we got back we had a fire and just chilled for a couple of hours.  Starting tomorrow it's getting colder.  Today it was around the mid 60's but for the next several days I am seeing highs in the 40's.

This Saturday I am signing up for Obamacare health insurance for Huli and myself.  Since I retired we have had Aetna insurance which would cost us $1996 per month starting January 2015.  This is for an insurance plan with a $7900 deductible for an individual and a $12,500 out of pocket maximum.  We will be signing up for a better plan and will save almost $4000 per year.  One major consideration for us is having a PPO plan which basically means we need to be able to access a provider anywhere in the country rather than a local HMO network that many people have.  We need this due to our travels.  This limits our options on the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) from 69 plans to six.  We feel very very fortunate to be able to make these choices but don't know how many other people across the country are able to do it.  Health insurance and medical costs in general need to be controlled.  Some blame Obamacare but that had nothing to do with my Aetna insurance since I had it long before Obamacare became the law.  If you look at insurance companies since Obamacare was passed you will find they have never been more profitable.  I predict there is absolutely no way the law will be repealed by Republicans because of the benefits the law has brought to the insurance industry.  We need to clean house or shall I say both houses and fill the vacancies by randomly picking people from the phone book or some other listing of residents from each district since many of us are no longer listed in a phone book.  One term and your outa there.   I will now step down from my soap box.

Here are the pictures.

This morning we woke up and found no bears but a bunch of wild turkeys outside our front door.

You see people walking all over town carrying musical instruments.

You see small micro breweries everywhere.

One of the two yurts at the rv park we are staying at.
Just got the campfire going.  We sat here and watched the fire while the sun went down.
