Chattanooga TN Day 1

We made a couple of stops along the way but made it to Chattanooga in a little over four hours.  There was a lot of traffic especially going around Atlanta where it was bumper to bumper on all three to seven lanes of traffic depending on where we were at the time.  Other than being backed up a few minutes for an accident that occurred ahead of us the trip was fairly uneventful.  We encountered some fairly steep mountains coming across 24 but the truck handled them with ease both going up and down.  Didn't even have to use the exhaust brake.

After setting up and settled in to our new site we went to Walmart for a couple of odds and ends then made a trip to Home Depot but I couldn't find what I was looking for.  The city of Chattanooga seems very upbeat with alot of activity in the downtown area.  They have sports facilities downtown with a beautiful river area and the people across the street from us said they always have concerts and things going on during the weekends downtown. We may have to extend our stay from three nights to something longer.

Tomorrow we plan on visiting Lookout Mountain which is only around five miles from where we are currently staying.  On Lookout Mountain there is a civil war battle field,  an underground waterfall that is 145 feet tall, and an inclined railway that is the world's steepest passenger railway.

Here are a couple of pictures of our new site where you can see some of the mountains in the background  which are foothills of the Smokey Mountain range.  The campground is called Raccoon Mountain RV Park  and provides cable tv with about 40 hd stations, clear satellite tv which allows us to use the dvr to record programs and wifi although a little slow. We also have water with great pressure and sewer connections.  Pretty much everything we need.  All of these conveniences cost us $35 per night including tax.
