We started at the Battelfield and ended in Sugar's Bar

We started out today by visiting one of the largest battlefields in the civil war that also produced more casualties than any other civil war battle except for Gettysburg.  At the Chickamauga Battlefield there was a total of 34,624 casualties with 3,969 dead, 24,430 wounded and 6,225 captured or missing.  This battle took place on September 19th and 20th in 1863.  The confederate soldiers won this battle. I am not going to bore you with tons and tons of pictures of the battlefield but I thought I would show you a few.  In addition, between 1890 and 1930 a total of 600 monuments were erected to honor the union and confederate brigades that participated in the battle.  I will also include some pictures from the civil war museum that included a priceless gun collection as well as other civil war relics.

In Indiana I have never been ask about what side Indiana was on in the civil war or any questions about the  civil war.  Last week while camping at the FDR State Park in Georgia the man in the site across the street ask me what side Indiana was on in the civil war.  I told him frankly I wasn't sure how much Indiana participated in the civil war but was sure they were on the Union side.  He was very friendly about it and said he thought they fought for the North too.  The civil war is still alive and on the mind of many almost 150 years later in the south.  I have heard similar stories from others like this but kind of discounted them but now realize there is something to it.

Some value this gun collection at $30 million while others say it's priceless since it cannot be replaced.

Cannon balls shot into trees

I didn't know a gun like this could shoot a cannon ball 3 miles

The Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel

The Chattanooga Hotel has normal rooms but also has hotel rooms in old historic train cars that are located in the back of the hotel.

We stopped at Sugar's bar and BBQ rib joint and lucky for us it was happy hour.
