Okefenokee Swamp Pictures Day 3

Below I will post some more pictures of our stay in the swamp with the one picture Huli told you about that I think is one of the best pictures I have ever taken.

At the present time, which is about 8:00 am on Friday April 13th, I am sitting in the 5th wheel which is sitting on top of a mountain in west central Georgia in a town called Pine Mountain. at the FDR State Park  While once again we are in the sticks it is very comfortable here as far as creature comforts compared to our last stay in the Okefenokee swamp.  Here we are picking up all three Dish satellites on the satellite antenna so we have over a hundred TV channels as well as about 10 local channels on our regular antenna.  As of this morning we are getting very good internet reception over our mifi Verizon device even though when we tried last night we couldn't get connected.  We have 50 amp electricity and water hook up but no sewer hook up.  That's not a problem but does mean we (Huli) may have to use the honey dipper wagon we haul around with us just for these occasions to dump the grey and black holding tanks.  We also carry a rubber bladder that allows us to haul 50 gallons of water at a time to refill the 5r's 100 gallon fresh water tank which we won't need here since they have great water supply.   The only thing I don't like is the temperature.  When I got up it was 43 degrees which is the coldest we have seen it in over three months.

We rode the motorcycle into the little town of Pine Mountain last evening and found it to be a very quaint little town with very interesting old houses with one grocery store and a few restaurants and a couple of gas stations.  The main purpose of our stay in Pine Mountain is to see Callaway Gardens which is a 13,000 acre complex which has walking and bike paths through what is described as some of the most beautiful scenery you will ever see in your life.  In spite of it being somewhat out of the way the gardens receive about 750,000 visitors per year according to their internet web site.  We will let you know our opinion once we go through the property.  We are planning on getting a two day pass and will be taking our bicycles which we will use on the 10 mile path that winds through the gardens.  We will take plenty of pictures.

Here are some more pictures of the swamp and then my favorite that I took while taking an early morning walk.  I was up so early that morning I had to wait for daylight before taking my walk but it paid off for me to be able to take these pictures.  I hope you enjoy.

This poster was in the window of the gas station in Fargo, Ga. which is the closest little town that is about 17 miles from our rv.

The next pictures are my favorites.  Mainly because I have never seen one of these in the wild before and it was if he was posing for me. He flew from one tree to the next before flying away.  It was if he was saying come on get your pictures and then I am out of here.

This is my personal favorite and one I currently use as my computer desktop background
