A journal written about life, retirement and our journey throughout the United States in a 5th wheel, along with our two Shih Tzus, Tanner and Syndey. Written not for notoriety but for our sons, family and friends, so they know where we are at any given time. And particularly for ourselves. Finally, we get to slow down and smell the roses and we don't want to forget any of it. You are welcome to join us as we go 'Down the Road a Piece'.

Jan 18, 2011 Monte Sano Park
Monfe Sano Park is made of 2340 acres of forrest. Highest altitude is 1650 feet. Compared to many parks we've camped in the campsites are few; only 89 compared to our next planned visit further south with over 600 sites. Although few, it is beautiful. Can't wait to see it when the sun is out. Today we woke up to the picture below and it pretty much stayed that way all day with just a trickle of rain; enough to ruin hiking.
While the fog was as thick as pea soup up on the mountain in town it was crystal clear. We took a late walk tonight and could barely see two steps ahead of us. Hopefully, tomorrow will bring out the sun and warmer
temps.
Here's Jack putting on his slicker to take the dogs for a walk. Fun times when it rains and having dogs. Tomorrow we plan on visiting the historic part of Huntsville. I think one day this week we will take a tour of the Jack Daniels distillery. We'll see.
