Getting ready to head west next week.

Well we have been selling things we no longer need.  Swivel wheel trailer and ramps.  Gone.  Wheels and tires off of the truck.  Gone, back to Sacramento, California which strangely enough is where I bought them about seven years ago.  Most people looked at the wheels on the truck and thought they were regular wheels and tires but every once in a while someone would stop me and ask if those are 19.5 inch Rickson billet wheels.  These wheels allowed us to increase the weight rating on the truck tires to 3950 lbs. per tire.  Fortunately for us they no longer make the billet aluminum wheels which makes the existing ones highly sought after. This Wednesday I have a Mobile Suite owner coming to buy a couple of water pumps and some roto chocks we had for the 5th wheel.  The only other things left to sell are the 5th wheel sliding hitch and the 5th wheel tail gate off of the truck.  If we sell these we may be able to go out west without doing dishes at the restaurants we stop at or bathroom duty at the rv parks where we stay.

Today we also decided where we are going this winter.  While we really enjoyed our time at the Okeechobee KOA last winter mainly due to the people and the golf course.  This coming winter we decided to see a part of Florida we have not seen, the Southwestern part, so we reserved a lot in Fort Myers, Florida today for December 1st through March 31st.  We really do know how blessed we are to be able to make these kinds of decisions.  The lot we reserved is on a lake with the windshield of the motorhome facing the water so this should be a great view to wake up to in the morning.  The rv park is only three miles from the gulf beach and Captiva Island so there is plenty to do very close to the park,  This is the main reason we didn't return to Okeechobee since there was not much to do outside the park without driving 40-50 miles.  We will be leaving Warsaw around the first of November and will head to Pigeon Forge, TN to make sure Cades Cove, the future site of some of our ashes, is as beautiful as it was last year.  After that we will head to Gaffney, SC for an appointment on November 13th to have the motorhome serviced or to attend an advanced maintenance class if it is available then.  While I still plan on doing much of our own maintenance there are certain things beyond my capabilities or equipment that I need a Freightliner facility to do.  In fact, this afternoon I am going over to do a lube job on the motorhome.  One thing I want to have done is to have the motorhome weighed by each corner so I know what pressure to carry in the tires.  This is something Gaffney does on a routine basis.  After this appointment we are going to either head to Mrytle Beach or to Beverly Hills,. Florida to meet some of our friends from when we stayed there two years ago.

On our trip out west we plan to stay at rv parks with pools so one day we can chill at the pool and then the next day or so go sight seeing. We haven't been in a pool since we left Okeechobee the end of March.  There is only three things we really want to do for sure on this trip.  Huli wants to take a balloon ride for her August 1st birthday,  we want to see the Grand Canyon, and we want to visit my brother and his family in Salt Lake City, Utah.  We may be able to do the balloon ride and see the Grand Canyon at the same time.  Not sure but we are checking into it.

Some are curious as to where we keep the motorhome when we are in Warsaw so I took some pictures.  It is kept in a storage condo we own which is part of a complex with other units similar to ours.  It is about three miles or so from where we live.  Today the lube job went ok except I was unable to get to the front universal joint.  This was due to either me being too big or the motorhome not being raised up high enough. On my way home I stopped at Lowes to buy a 8x8 by eight feet long post so I can make some blocks about 12 inches long.  These will allow me to raise the motorhome higher and then use my 44,000 lb. jack stands to put under it just in case the motorhome jacks malfunction.  The jack stands without the blocks don't go high enough and if there were a problem with the hydraulic jacks I would wind up being much thinner than I am now.  Here are some pictures.

The motorhome measures 43 feet long or so but with the tow bar it probably goes closer to 45 feet.  The storage unit is 25 feet wide x 50 feet long.

Plenty of room on the side.

Thank goodness for the rear camera but still some room to spare.

Room to spare on the other side.

This is one of  the 22 ton jack stands that is not high enough to get my fat ass under the motorhome to grease the front universal joint.
