Tomorrow we head out for Williams, AZ. The trip will take us about five and one half hours or so. We are staying in Williams five days so we will have a little more exploration time. We could have spent much more time in the Albuquerque/Santa Fe area but enjoyed the sites we were able to see and especially enjoyed the balloon ride.
Here is the surge protector. The end with the individual wires showing was wired into the transfer switch box while the other end was part of the long cord that would plug into the electrical pedestal at the rv park. The transfer switch box is what switches the power from shore power or the generator.
I couldn't get it to focus on something this small and close but you can see the wires on the left side have started burning the insulation off of them
On this side the plastic has kind of melted around the input connections and one of the wires was actually burned into and came out from under the lug where it was attached. The RV tech guy said he couldn't tell if the failure was caused by a malfunction of the surge projector or due to a bad installation (kind of like the wiring on my pickup truck lights North Trail did for us). The more this kind of stuff happens the more I like doing things myself even though I know nothing about what I am installing until I start researching it.
