Salisbury and Newburyport Mass.

We started our day by riding our bicycles over to the Atlantic ocean at Salisbury, Mass. which is only about three miles from where we are staying.  We first came across some very nice sand sculptures that were actually created back in June but are still standing to a large degree.  Some vandals destroyed part of one sculpture last night but a guy was repairing it while we were there today.  We then went into the water but didn't stay too long.  I think we were both hoping to find warmer water kind of like we have at the pool in the RV park where we are staying but instead it was freezing.  One unusual thing about the ocean though was the water was very calm.  In fact, it was so calm that several people were standing up on over sized surf boards paddling them with a long paddle.  Some of these people were probably a couple hundred of yards or more from the beach.  After going in the water and then warming up on the beach we spent some time looking around the square area where we found the typical beach shops and bars.

After returning to the rv we headed over to the rv park pool which is just great.  The water temperature is perfect and we pretty much had the pool to ourselves.  After our swim we loaded up Tanner and Sydney and went to Dave's fish market where you can buy fish freshly caught that morning.   After buying the fish we headed down to Newburyport Mass. to find the train station and just check things out since it was raining here in Salisbury and we didn't want to just sit around the rv.  Newburyport is more like the towns you would expect to find in the New England area.  It was established in the middle 1630's and has the charm you would expect in this area.  I have included a few pictures but since it rained for most of our visit I will try to take a few more later in the week since we both hope to get back to this neat town.  We found the train station for trains going to and coming from Boston.  However, since we have been to Boston a couple of times before, one time we spent a week there, we are now thinking about driving down the coast to Salem and Gloucester Mass., neither of which we have seen before, instead of taking the train to Boston.  We'll have to wait and see how we feel tomorrow.

Hope you enjoy the pictures.

If you are wondering if this is the only shirt I have the answer is no.  I have many Ball State tee shirts. I wear them because we get many people ask me about Ball State or Muncie, Indiana or ask if I know David Letterman. Believe it or not  David Letterman was actually over to my parents house more than once but I didn't know him but my brother did.  They went to Ball State at the same time.
