Bingo at the Clubhouse

I've only ever played grown up Bingo once.  That was with my sis, Brenda, many years ago.  It was when I was still smoking (as was seemingly everyone else in the Bingo hall).  The reason I remember that smoking detail is simple....how could anyone who smoked (and you could smoke anywhere back then) play Bingo and smoke at the same time?  People did it though and played numerous Bingo games at once.  That whole concept fascinated  me.  I can multitask with the best of em but to me, smoking with one hand, rubbing the bellies of their little troll dolls that lined their Bingo game area on the table and playing 10 games of Bingo at once was on a level I could never hope to achieve.  Even though I had some Bingo cards in front of me, I to this day, could not tell you whether or not I won a game.  I was too busy watching the players around me.

Well, I no longer smoke and even if I did, society has made smokers feel so bad about themselves that they have to sneak a smoke in a 2X2 square foot area just outside of the smelly garbage bins.  I no longer have to worry about smoking with one hand and daubing numbers with the other.  Thank God.  Getting older has made me slower in every area of life so playing Bingo now even without smoking was a task.  I could not for the life of me understand how a simple game of Bingo could be so difficult.  Too many ways to win a game; three of which I didn't even know about until the second week of Bingo.  Jack sat across from me during the first Bingo night.  We kept eying one another and his eyes asked, "What the hell have you gotten me into?"  That freaked me out.  My rock, my know everything about life and how to fix it guy was giving me this look?  Crap, we were in trouble.  Not wanting to appear totally without a brain as the "newbies" we tried not asking too many questions.  Looking back I have to laugh.  It wasn't as if we were trying to solve the mysteries of cancer.  We were only trying to play a stinking game of Bingo.  The grown up way.  We didn't win a dime the first week.  The next week we sat next to someone who was a "pro" in the Bingo arena and I picked her brain.   I shared my info with Jack.  Guess what?  We've won three times since the second week we played.  OMG!!!! I just realized how old that makes me sound . Lord help me.  Winning a Bingo game makes me happy when once balancing the "books" at month end gave me a sense of accomplishment. Today an accomplishment for me is getting out of bed before 9:00. Can there really be that much difference between the age of 40 and 50?  Damn it! Ok, 58?  Did God really plan it this way?

We met a gal from South Bend this week.  Her husband has COPD and seems not to be able to be involved in any activity.  Personally I think he just wants time to himself.  Whatever!   I invited her to Bingo this past week.  Bless her heart.  She was as totally lost as we were the first week.  Our National Debt being balanced or winning at Bingo......uhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......decisions, decisions.  Since I have absolutely no control over any political situation in these United States I choose Bingo.  Less complicated.

Today is Saturday and as of this minute Jack is at the golf course hitting some balls.  We have dinner plans with JoAnn and Wally, Deb and John.  It's been a relaxing day thus far but I'm thinking  I'd better straighten the place up a little and get my shower.  Please don't forget to check out the new pics we posted on Jack's blog......his test blog.   Cute pics of the boys. PS We added more pictures since he posted this initially.

I'm adding misc pics to this post.  Hope you enjoy them.

The bike riders stopped for lunch.  After almost schmucking Deb in the back end of her bike and pulling out in front of another biker I quickly realized group biking may not be my thing.  I'm sure Deb will be happy to hear that one.

The street we currently call home.

I took this pic from our side window.  The new pool, just inside the white fence, is a one minute walk from our camp site.

I took this pic of our local "beautician" through our back window.  It's nice walking 10' to get your hair done.

The dreaded dog park where Sydney began her descent in to insanity.
