Thursday March 24th Tybee Island, Georgia

We loaded up the bikes and drove over to Tybee Island today. Tybee is the name of the island as well as the city on the island.  We wondered for a while if we would make it off Skidaway Island where we are currently staying.  One lane of the bridge was closed and it had traffic backed up in both directions on the only road to get on or off the island.  While some of the scenery at Tybee Island was nice it wasn't near as interesting for us as St. Simon Island except for  the local bar crowd.  We stopped at the local saloon for a couple of beers because it was really hot and windy today.  We had a great time talking to about six of the local people at the bar. We are heading back tomorrow to go to a different part of the island where we can get closer to the ocean.  Today you could not get near the beach due to every foot of it being developed with houses on it.  On the way home we stopped at a restaurant where I had shrimp and oysters and Huli had chicken.  She's not too big into seafood unless it's square, from Mickey D's, and it's on a bun.

This is the largest American flag we have ever seen

Many houses in the area are this low country design

Fishing for whiting but caught a sting ray

You can't see it in the picture but seveal of these volleyball players had mowhawk haircuts that we thought was a little unusual

This shows the miles of salt marsh that is prevelent in this area
